Police and firefighters surrounded a Saudia Airlines Boeing 787 aircraft at London Heathrow Airport on August 28, 2025, after a male passenger allegedly assaulted a crew member and attempted to open an aircraft door as the plane was taxiing to Terminal 4. The emergency response was rapid and intense, with at least four fire trucks, six police vehicles, and several ambulances present, highlighting the serious nature of the incident.
The passenger, aged 33, reportedly punched a crew member and tried to open the jet door shortly after the aircraft, arriving from Jeddah as Flight SV119, had landed just before 1 pm. The plane braked sharply, and the pilots called for immediate assistance. The Metropolitan Police arrested the man on suspicion of endangering an aircraft, assault by beating, behaving in a threatening manner towards a crew member, and damaging the aircraft. The passenger has since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.
Witnesses described chaos and fear on board, particularly among families, as the passenger became agitated and aggressive, insisting on leaving the plane immediately. The Saudi National Transport Safety Center indicated the passenger might have a health condition and praised the flight crew for quickly restraining him to ensure the safety of all on board. The incident caused no broader disruption to Heathrow operations, which continued normally as emergency services handled the situation.
