Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has announced that all of its Airbus A380 services to New York JFK will feature four cabin classes, including the award-winning Premium Economy cabin, starting in late 2025.

The direct daily flights between Dubai and New York JFK, operating as EK201/202, will begin offering Premium Economy seats from December 1, 2025. Additionally, Emirates’ other daily service to New York via Milan, operating as EK205/206, will feature Premium Economy from November 10, 2025. This means all three daily Emirates flights to New York—EK201/202, EK203/204, and EK205/206—will have four cabin classes: First, Business, Premium Economy, and Economy.

Passengers flying to Milan from Dubai will also have Premium Economy available on two daily flights (EK091/092 and EK205/206) from November 10. These upgrades complement Emirates’ broader rollout of Premium Economy across its fleet, expected to reach 68 global destinations served by the A380, Boeing 777, and Airbus A350 aircraft by March 2026.

On the four-class A380, the Premium Economy cabin has 56 seats arranged in a 2-4-2 configuration on the front of the main deck. The seats offer generous pitch and width, with features such as in-seat charging points and a side cocktail table. The onboard experience includes curated menus, extensive beverage options including the exclusive Chandon Vintage Brut 2016, and enhanced amenities designed for comfort on long-haul journeys.

Tickets for Premium Economy can be booked now via emirates.com, the Emirates app, travel agents, and Emirates retail stores. This expansion reflects Emirates’ ongoing investment in delivering superior passenger experience, providing more premium choices for travelers on key long-haul routes.

Air Cambodia is poised to expand its fleet with up to 20 Chinese-made C909 regional jets, marking Cambodia’s entry into a growing roster of Southeast Asian customers for China’s state-owned aircraft manufacturer, COMAC. Recently, Lao Airlines received its second C909 and began cross-border flights to Bangkok, signaling successful regional deployment. COMAC has also shown interest in expanding its influence by proposing a majority stake acquisition in Laos’ national carrier, which is facing debt challenges.

Cambodia maintains strong ties with China, underscored by King Norodom Sihamoni’s attendance at China’s largest-ever military parade last week. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a renewed safety alert warning airlines about the ongoing risks posed by lithium batteries carried onboard by passengers and crew. These batteries, found in common devices such as cell phones, laptops, portable power banks, e-cigarettes, and hearing aids, carry the potential to malfunction and ignite fires through a phenomenon known as "thermal runaway."

Through August 2025, the FAA has documented 50 verified incidents involving battery-related fires or malfunctions on aircraft, highlighting the persistent nature of this threat. Airlines are urged to rethink how lithium batteries are stored, especially discouraging their placement in areas that are not visible or easy to reach during the flight, such as overhead bins or packed carry-on compartments.

Among major U.S. carriers, Southwest Airlines stands out for its policy requiring portable chargers and power banks to remain in plain sight when in use onboard to help mitigate risks.

Starting in January 2026, American Airlines will offer complimentary inflight Wi-Fi on approximately 90% of its fleet, making it the largest domestic carrier in the U.S. to provide free internet access on more planes than any other airline.
